Tapping Into the Sixth Sense: How to Align With the Vision Meant for You

Posted May 15, 2025

We like to think every decision we make is grounded in logic—but let’s be honest, some of the biggest shifts in life don’t start with spreadsheets or checklists. They begin with something quieter. Something deeper. A whisper. A nudge. That thing we can’t fully explain but know is real. That’s what I call the sixth sense.

High achievers don’t just analyze—they discern. They listen. They sense. They’re tuned in to more than just data and deadlines. And today, I want to walk you through how to develop and trust this often-overlooked faculty.

What Is the Sixth Sense?

The sixth sense isn’t magic—it’s spiritual alignment. It’s the bridge between the physical and the divine. For many of us, it’s how we receive insight through faith. Prayer. Discernment. It’s what guides us when logic runs out of answers.

When you’re tuned into your sixth sense, you're not just living off instinct—you’re listening for direction from something greater than yourself. But here's the catch: you don’t get access to it until you've worked through the foundational principles—desire, faith, planning, and persistence. Only then does the door to the sixth sense begin to open.

We’ve all had that moment. Something tells you to talk to someone, avoid a certain situation, or take a leap—and later, you realize just how pivotal that moment was.

Divine Nudges and Life-Altering Clues

Those nudges don’t come from nowhere. They come from alignment. They show up when your desires are rooted in purpose, and your actions are tied to faith.

Years ago, I thought I had my path figured out. I was going to enlist in the military. I talked to every branch. One said I wasn’t smart enough. One offered a job I didn’t want. One couldn’t get the paperwork together. Then one day, a 3x5 card showed up in the mail asking if I was interested in becoming an Army officer.

Now, I don’t know about you, but to me, that screamed scam. Still, something inside said, “Fill it out.” That card—just a simple piece of paper—led to a phone call from Major Hall at Georgia Military College and a full scholarship that completely changed my life. None of my plans could have predicted that. But my sixth sense? It knew.

Logic Didn’t Lead Me—Calling Did

Looking back, I know now that this was more than coincidence. That card was a divine breadcrumb. A clue. My gut told me to act, and I listened. That’s what the sixth sense feels like—it doesn’t yell. It nudges. It whispers. And when you act on it, everything changes.

This doesn’t mean you abandon logic. Logic gets you to the door. But it’s faith—aligned with your calling—that helps you walk through it.

How to Develop Your Sixth Sense

So, how do you tap into this part of yourself?

Step 1: Prepare.
You’ve got to get clear about what you want. Ask God. Ask: “Is this what You want for me too?” It’s not about bending the divine to your will—it’s about aligning your will to the divine.

Step 2: Build Faith.
Faith isn’t just belief—it’s belief in motion. You won’t always have all the resources or answers. That’s okay. The sixth sense doesn’t require you to have everything figured out. It just asks you to take the next step.

Step 3: Create Space for Stillness.
Your sixth sense won’t compete with noise. You’ve got to make room for silence. Turn off the distractions. Journal. Pray. Walk in silence. Listen. The whispers come in the stillness.

Step 4: Act on the Nudge.
The 3x5 card was a nudge. I acted. That changed my life. Sometimes it’s that simple. Do the thing. Make the call. Apply. Show up. Mail it in and see what happens.

Lessons from the Loaves and Fish

There’s a story from Scripture where people were hungry after hearing Jesus teach. All they had were a few loaves and fish—but He said, “Bring them anyway.” They gave what they had. And it was multiplied.

Sometimes you won’t feel ready. You’ll feel unqualified, under-resourced, and underprepared. Bring what you have anyway. Offer it. That’s how faith works.

What Gets in the Way?

Let’s be honest. Noise. Doubt. Impatience. These are the three biggest roadblocks to tapping into your sixth sense.

  • Noise drowns out the whisper.
  • Doubt convinces you that nudge was just your imagination.
  • Impatience makes you act before you’re ready—or quit just before the breakthrough.

You overcome them by doing the opposite: getting quiet, replacing doubt with truth, and trusting that divine timing has its own clock.

Make It Practical

Right now, think about this:
What has been pressing on your heart lately?
What keeps showing up in your thoughts?
What doesn’t make logical sense, but just won’t go away?

Write it down. Spend 10 minutes today in silence and ask: “What am I being called to pursue?” Then act. Even if it’s a small step.

Final Thought

Your sixth sense won’t always come with a neon sign. But it will always show up when you’ve done the work—when you’ve built your faith, clarified your desire, and quieted the noise.

It might look like a 3x5 card. It might sound like a whisper. But if you lean in and act, it could be the start of something far bigger than anything you could plan.

You already have what you need. Now go trust what you’ve been given.
